FATHERS AND VETERANS AGAINST DRUNK & IMPAIRED DRIVING - FADD-VADDUSA.ORG
FADD: “HOW IT ALL BEGAN” Fathers Against Drunk Driving: FADD, has been on the front lines, raising awareness; educating our youth; and saving lives since 1985. We have accomplished this through education and awareness programs acting to bring an opportunity to prevent the deadly consequences of drinking and driving. Since 2009 we have collaborated with students for the Underage Drinking Prevention Month annually. Now we are teamed up with Veterans Against Drunk Driving: VADDUSA to make sure our message is being delivered to our brave soldiers, many who come back from combat and are struggling and need a helping hand.
Overview & History:
— Project “Provide-A-Ride” was of our first prevention saving service that was developed in 1985. Fliers were distributed to local bars, restaurants, drinking establishments and everywhere in between. Once people started calling for a Safe-N-Sober ride home, we saw our hard work pay off with, “thanks for the safe ride home,” as our reward. This was the start of a life saving journey that, to this day continues with our daily mission.
— National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month is a celebration that takes place every September. We partner with the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse (NIH) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). For more than 20 years Recovery Month has worked to improve the lives of millions of Americans in need of treatment and recovery services. This past September was our 18th year that FADD has been involved with events all over the nation, in towns big and small.
— Underage Drinking Prevention Month: This idea started as a “Pilot Project” in 2009 with two students, we passed out educational materials while developing relationships. We have had continuous success in reaching out into the community every year with this program and one of our main focus is engaging our youth about the dangers of drinking while intoxicated.
— We are producing Public Service Announcements also known as PSA's in the industry and make them available for free to everyone on the dangers of drinking and driving. On our resources page you will find many organizations ready to lend a helping hand. We will also dedicate ourselves to supplying links to job opportunities and training available to our Armed Forces veterans. Together we can make our country a safer place for everyone especially our children.
